CPanel is probably the most popular control panel software in the hosting industry. Commercial hosting providers love cPanel because it's cheap, and it allows them to give their customers some independence in managing their website. Otherwise, customers would have to run their hosting accounts using Linux command lines.

However, there are many downsides to using cPanel on your server in term of security and performance. That's why Managed Hosting providers (like us) don't go near it.
