My automated SEO report is really negative!

We’re all looking for ways to improve SEO, right? Using a report service like Deep Crawl, Moz, or SEM Rush can be a good way to get an idea of where your site stands with regards to SEO and what you can do to improve it. 

Unfortunately, sometimes the reports you get back will be negative. This may be because:

  1. Your site really does have issues.
  2. The scan was blocked in some way.
  3. The scan is measuring elements that aren’t relevant for your site.

What to do with a negative report

If you’re concerned about a report, please send it through to support@performancefoundry.com, and let us know which part of the report concerns you. We’ll look into it and let you know if there’s an improvement to be made to your site, or if it’s more likely to be an issue with the scan. 

Sometimes our security systems will lock out scan bots, just like someone trying to brute-force your login page with multiple attempts to log in would be shut out.

If you’re looking for a good scan tool, we recommend Deep Crawl or Moz.com. Their bots take a few days to gather data, so are less abrasive than some tools. Deep Crawl is the better tool, in our opinion, but Moz has much more readable data for non-specialists.
